Wool Dress With Net Collar, Bodice, and Sleeves, about 1940
Deep blue dress. Collar, sleeves, and top of bodice in blue cotton net. Body made of graduated rectangles of dark blue wool, pieced together on blue net; rectangles have blue net star in corners where they meet, formed by cut-out V's in corners of rectangles. Half-slip of blue silk faille. Skirt and slip have been shortened about 1/2 inch.

Woman's muted turquoise crepe evening gown having a straight undecorated skirt, fitted, dropped waist. The dress has a round, jewel neckline, cap sleeves (shoulder pads have been removed), and a bodice decorated with 1 1/2" x 3/4" beaded ovals in shades of pink, black, silver, and gold. Three lines of pink and silver beads edge the neck and sleeves. Long sleeved black wool crepe evening gown accented with vertical stripes of black sequins. Additional accent is achieved at the neck with red and black bows and wrapping. This garment was owned by Matilda Dodge Wilson (October 19, 1883 – September 19, 1967),who was the wife of John Francis Dodge (October 25, 1864 – January 14, 1920), co-founder of the Dodge Motor Car Company in Detroit, Michigan.
