Dress, about 1932
Worn by Virginia Palmer Bradfield Ward, this is a striking, beautiful dress used for evening wear. The fine but very plain crepe is exquisitely cut, with the rhinestones making the whole dress seem even more streamlined. It likely was worn with a small belt, now gone. Virginia Palmer Bradfield was born 1897 in Grand Rapids, MI. Unlined Silk Velvet Evening Coat with Flared Cuffs, 1931
Unlined burgundy silk velvet evening coat. Originally the front was sewed together just below the button, and the collar originally had fur or feathered trim. The long sleeves have Gothic flared cuffs. This garment was owned by Matilda Dodge Wilson (October 19, 1883 – September 19, 1967),who was the wife of John Francis Dodge (October 25, 1864 – January 14, 1920), co-founder of the Dodge Motor Car Company in Detroit, Michigan.
