Partnered with the DeRoy Auditorium, Yamasaki’s form-making derived much of its strength from the careful compositional massing of pure forms and pattern repetition of surface elements. Here, the composition of streetwall-gateway building and freestanding pavilion is perhaps a modern take on a medieval castle keep. The two buildings are linked by an underground passage.
