This woman's one piece, blue silk taffeta dress has a pattern of tiny blue and white checks. The garment has a fitted bodice that buttons down front, and its buttons are covered by a panel of pleated blue iridescent taffeta. Women's dress. Black and white striped cotton. two piece. Long full skirt. Gathered at waist by drawstring. Ruffle attached near bottom. Skirt edged with black binding tape around bottom. Top is long, over blouse fitted at waist. Narrow stand-up collar. Long fitted sleeves. End of sleeves and bottom edge of blouse trimmed with ruffle of same material. Buttons all the way down the front. Round black buttons with faceted surfaces.

Two piece dress from the nineteenth century
This two piece dress may have been worn as a wedding gown or was part of a trousseau. It is made of gold-color silk satin, and the bodice is boned with deep points front and back. It has a laced center front closing with elbow length sleeves. The deep "U" neckline is filled with ecru lace and embroidered net, and has fringed ruching.
