Wayne State halfback John Kocher puts his head down and bulls his way to an eight-yard gain against John Carroll of Cleveland, 0. [sic] at Tartar Field, October 13, 1962.
Sophomore halfback Tim Lafferty (21) is about to accept the challenge while Tartar end Jim Spivey gets set to Block anyone with tackle notions from the rear. Despite this play, it was a happy homecoming for Lafferty who hails from Detroit.

Bill Kickel, John Carroll halfback, waits for a pass that never came. Wayne State's halfback Bill Koury knocked it down. Byt [sic] it didn't stop John Carroll, who piled up 67 points to Wayne State's 14 at Tartar Field.
The October 13, 1962 contest opened the Tartar's home season. In the background are Wayne State tackle Dave Marten (73) and Blue Streaks ick Koblin (78) and Frank Wright (89).
