  • Long Dress with Leaf Pattern Overlay

    Long silk organza dinner dress, royal blue in color with black leaf pattern overlay. Dress is lined with cummerbund style waist, sweetheart style neckline with lace inset and stand-away collar. Hook and eye closure in back, ¾ length sleeves with lace, large sash in back with decorative covered buttons.. Circa 1900-1909.

    Long dress with long sleeves. Light blue in color with lace inserts and black ribbon trim. Lace is on lower third of sleeve with light blue fabric fringed cuff, with lace ruffle and buttons. The same features are found around hem and decorative straps on the top. Lace insert with high neck on bodice of dress, plated skirt at hem. Circa 1900-1909.

    Pink silk taffeta dress with flowers embroidered in silk on yoke, sleeve cuffs and skirt. High neck, with ruffled lace forming stand collar. Long set-in sleeves with turnover cuffs. Yoke and drop waist with rather crude hand smocking. Short pleated skirt. Center-back opening with four mother-of-pearl buttons. Machine-sewn, but gathering on bodice is done by large hand-stitching.     This is an interesting use of cotton chambray and tow cloth. A typically comfortable, casual dress for a girl around the turn of the century. Basting remains visible on the front of the dress.

    This is a nice dress for a young girl, perfect for school wear; it has the "pouch" that was popular in the early 20th Century. It is quite worn, well-used and well-washed.
