October 23 1863 Dear Cousins
I wones [once] moar [more] take my pen in hand to let you [k]now that I am well and hope theas [these] few lines will find you all the same I got back to my rigment [regiment] on the 16 of this month and we have march a bout [about] 126 miles seanes [since] that time and I hant [hain’t] got now [no] blanket yet and it has be[e]n raining ever seanes [since] day be fore
