Some content, including the item here, have similar titles. This type of overlap many times has origins in the item's original physical form. For example, with the Virtual Motor City Collection, photographs were grouped in envelopes with a few descriptive words written on the front. Those words then formed the basis for titles.
This chair, in the collection of The Henry Ford, has a backrest of brown and white calf skin padded upholstery that covers the molded plywood. The seat and back are attached by black rubber shock mounts to a chrome base frame with metal glides. The rubber shock mounts permit the chair to flex readily to changes in position. This piece was intended to be used in residential or office spaces. [Source: ca. 1952 Herman Miller, Inc.
