Some content, including the item here, have similar titles. This type of overlap many times has origins in the item's original physical form. For example, with the Virtual Motor City Collection, photographs were grouped in envelopes with a few descriptive words written on the front. Those words then formed the basis for titles.
1899-1920
8x10 black and white photograph from glass negative of chassis of 1899 Packard Number One. Inscribed on photo back: completed Nov. 6, 1899, Warren Ohio; Model A, 1-cylinder, 9-horsepower, 71.5-inch wheelbase, 2-person roadster. Note that the H-gate shift box is in place, having been installed after initial tests of Nov. 1899 (initially there were 2 levers). Photograph was perhaps taken some years after car was built--note less than new condition of engine parts and tires.
